Everything you need to know about using Reddeleter to manage your Reddit history.
Getting Started
3 questions
How do I start deleting my Reddit content?
Sign in with your Reddit account using OAuth, review your imported content and AI analysis, apply filters to select what to delete, and create a deletion job. The entire process takes just a few minutes to set up.
Do I need to provide my Reddit password?
No. Reddeleter uses Reddit's official OAuth authentication. You authorize the app through Reddit's secure login page without sharing your password. You can revoke access anytime at reddit.com/prefs/apps.
How long does deletion take?
Deletion speed depends on Reddit's API rate limits. Expect approximately 1-2 items per second. 1,000 items take about 10-15 minutes, 5,000 items take about 1 hour. We respect rate limits to keep your account safe.
Features & Functionality
5 questions
What is the AI analysis feature?
After importing your content, Claude AI analyzes your Reddit presence and provides personalized insights including your overall vibe, key themes, notable examples, and Reddeleter's friendly feedback. This helps you understand what you're about to delete.
What filters are available?
You can filter by: Subreddit (specific communities), Date range (keep recent, delete old), Score threshold (remove downvoted content), Keywords (find specific topics), NSFW status (target adult content), and select individual items manually.
Can I delete posts from specific subreddits only?
Yes. Use the subreddit filter to target specific communities, then select and delete only those items. This is perfect for cleaning up participation in specific communities while keeping others.
Can I preview what will be deleted?
Yes. Before deletion, you see a complete list of selected items with links to view the original content on Reddit. You can review, adjust your selection, and confirm before proceeding.
Can I pause or cancel a deletion job?
Jobs run continuously once started to respect rate limits efficiently. However, you can view real-time progress and see which items were deleted successfully, failed, or are still queued.
Safety & Security
4 questions
Will this get my Reddit account banned?
No. Reddeleter respects Reddit's API rate limits and uses official OAuth authentication. Deletion is a normal Reddit operation. We process deletions at a safe pace (~1-2 per second) specifically to prevent account issues.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We store only your Reddit username and OAuth tokens (encrypted). Your posts and comments are fetched temporarily for deletion and are not permanently stored. Job logs are automatically purged after 30 days.
Can I revoke Reddeleter's access?
Yes, anytime. Visit reddit.com/prefs/apps, find Reddeleter in your authorized apps, and click 'revoke access'. Your OAuth tokens will be invalidated immediately.
What happens if Reddit's API is down?
Deletion jobs will retry failed items automatically. If Reddit's API is experiencing issues, the job may temporarily pause and resume when the API is available again.
Deletion & Privacy
5 questions
Is deletion permanent?
Yes. Once content is deleted from Reddit, it cannot be recovered through Reddeleter or Reddit. Always review your selection carefully before confirming deletion.
Will deletion remove my content from third-party archives?
No. Third-party services like Pushshift, Archive.org, and other Reddit mirrors may retain copies of deleted content. Reddeleter removes content from Reddit's servers only. Deletion from external archives is not possible.
What if some items fail to delete?
Content from archived or locked threads may fail to delete. Reddit may also reject deletions if your account has restrictions. Failed items are logged with error details in the job summary.
Can I undo a deletion?
No. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure to review your selection and use filters carefully before confirming deletion.
Does deleting reduce my karma?
No. Karma you've earned from deleted posts and comments remains on your account. Deleting content does not affect your total karma score.

Troubleshooting
4 questions
My content isn't loading. What should I do?
Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, sign out and sign back in to refresh your authentication tokens. Check that your Reddit account is in good standing and not suspended.
The deletion job seems stuck. What's wrong?
Refresh the job page to see updated progress. If Reddit's API is experiencing issues, the job may be temporarily paused and will resume automatically. Large jobs (10,000+ items) can take several hours.
I see 'Authentication expired' error. How do I fix this?
Sign out and sign back in. OAuth tokens expire after a period of time. Re-authenticating will generate new tokens and restore access.
Some of my posts/comments are missing. Why?
Reddit's API has pagination limits. Very old content or content from deleted subreddits may not appear. We fetch up to the most recent content available via the API.
